course: irritating design
supervised by Isabel D. Ortiz
3rd semester, 2019
The encyclical Humanae Vitae, published in 1968 by Pope Paul VI, condemns all forms of artificial contraception. Even today, the Catholic Church continues to uphold this practice, even against the backdrop of the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
The irritating packaging project criticizes this practice by combining the packaging stereotype of condoms with the hygienic aspect of an aluminium foil bag.
quotation
Similarly excluded is any action which either before, at the moment of, or after sexual intercourse, is specifically intended to prevent procreation—whether as an end or as a means.
